pointing domain to store

I am trying to point my domain to a Shopify store. Someone in Homestead helped me and my domain is still not pointing to Shopify. I saw that she made me a cloudfare account and pointed my domain to cloudflare. I need to know how to get my domain pointed to Shopify. Anyone go thru this as well? Thank you!!

I got this information using a Google search. Let me know if it helps.

To point your Homestead domain name to Shopify, you need to access your domain registrar's control panel, locate the DNS settings, and update the "A" record to point to Shopify's IP address, which is typically 23.227.38.65; you may also need to add a CNAME record pointing to "shops.myshopify.com" depending on your domain provider's setup.
Key steps:
  • Login to your domain registrar: Access your account with your domain provider (like GoDaddy, Google Domains, etc.).
  • Navigate to DNS settings: Find the section where you can manage your domain's DNS records.
  • Edit the "A" record:
    • Find the "A" record for your domain.
    • Update the value to 23.227.38.65.
  • Optional: Add a CNAME record:
    Create a new CNAME record.
    • Set the "Host" to "www" (or your preferred subdomain).
    • Set the "Value" to "shops.myshopify.com".
Important points to remember:
  • Verification may take time:
After updating your DNS settings, it may take a few hours for the changes to propagate across the internet.
  • Check with your domain provider:
If you're unsure about any specific settings, consult your domain registrar's support for guidance.
  • Shopify settings:
Once you've updated your DNS records, go to your Shopify admin panel, navigate to "Online Store" > "Domains" and add your domain to connect it to your Shopify store.

Hello,

The Cloudflare account was created because Shopify required DNS records that Homestead does not support. At this point, you need to work with Shopify to troubleshoot why the site isn't working. You can log into the Cloudflare account and verify with them that the DNS is correct.
