To add a TXT record to your Homestead website, log into your Homestead account, navigate to the "Domains" section, click "Advanced DNS Settings" for your domain, and then add the TXT record with the provided details, saving the changes.
Here's a more detailed breakdown:
1. Access Your Homestead Account:
Log in to your Homestead account and Navigate to the "Domains" section.
2. Access Advanced DNS Settings:
  • Under the domain you want to modify, click on "Advanced DNS Settings".
3. Add the TXT Record:
  • Locate the TXT Record Section: Find the section where you can add or edit TXT records.
  • Add a New Record: Click on the "+" button or similar to add a new TXT record.
  • Enter the Record Details:
    • Name/Host: Enter the hostname or subdomain for the TXT record.
    • Value: Enter the text value provided by the service requiring the TXT record.
    • TTL: (Time to Live) - This determines how long the record is cached. You can usually leave this at the default value.
  • Save Changes: Click "Submit" or "Save" to save the new TXT record.
4. Verify the TXT Record:
  • After adding the record, it may take some time for the changes to propagate across the DNS network.
  • Use a TXT record lookup tool (like this one) to verify that the record is correctly configured.
Important Notes:
  • Cloudflare:
If your domain is using Cloudflare, you'll need to add the TXT record within the Cloudflare dashboard, not directly in Homestead.
  • Specific Instructions:
The exact steps and terminology might vary slightly depending on your Homestead plan or the specific service requiring the TXT record.
  • TXT Record Purpose:
TXT records are used for various purposes, including domain verification, email sender policies (like SPF and DMARC), and other informational purposes.
