Error 1001 Ray ID: 9561d785d8ff76dc • 2025-06-27 03:26:15 UTC DNS resolution error

I've never had this problem before on Homestead for 15 years. I've called Homestead 6 times to get my website to work.

====================================================================

You've requested a page on a website (www.whidbeyislandcomicon.com) that is on the Cloudflare network. Cloudflare is currently unable to resolve your requested domain (www.whidbeyislandcomicon.com). There are two potential causes of this:

  • Most likely: if the owner just signed up for Cloudflare it can take a few minutes for the website's information to be distributed to our global network.
  • Less likely: something is wrong with this site's configuration. Usually this happens when accounts have been signed up with a partner organization (e.g., a hosting provider) and the provider's DNS fails.

Did you recently try to add Cloudflare to secure your website?

What's your website's url?

@donna2746 According to Google:

Based on the information provided, Error 1001: DNS resolution error, along with the Ray ID, indicates that Cloudflare is unable to resolve the domain name of the website you're trying to access. This means that the system responsible for translating the human-readable website address (like google.com) into a machine-readable IP address has encountered an issue.
Here's a breakdown of possible causes and solutions:
1. Common Causes:
  • Incorrect DNS records: The DNS records for the domain might be misconfigured, containing typos, wrong IP addresses, or missing information.
  • External domain CNAME record: The site you're trying to access might have a CNAME record pointing to a domain that's active on Cloudflare, but the non-Cloudflare domain isn't also added to a Cloudflare account, creating a recursive DNS call.
  • Offline DNS provider: A CNAME record in the site's Cloudflare DNS might rely on a DNS provider that's currently offline.
  • Always Online enabled for a Custom Hostname: This Cloudflare feature can sometimes cause issues with DNS resolution for Custom Hostnames (SSL for SaaS).
  • DNS propagation delay: If the domain recently changed its DNS settings, there might be a delay in propagating the changes across the global network.
  • Nameservers not pointing to Cloudflare: If the domain's nameservers stop pointing to Cloudflare, DNS resolution will break.
  • Unresolved IP address: In rare cases, the client's DNS resolver might fail to resolve the domain to a valid IP address.
2. Ray ID:
The Ray ID is a unique identifier for every request processed through Cloudflare. It helps pinpoint the specific request that resulted in the error, making it invaluable for troubleshooting. If you encounter this error while visiting a site, it's recommended to share the Ray ID (and a screenshot) with the site owner or administrator, as this information can significantly aid in resolving the issue.
3. Troubleshooting Steps:
  • Check DNS records: If you are the site owner, verify that the DNS records in your Cloudflare dashboard (or authoritative nameservers) are accurate and up-to-date.
  • Flush DNS cache: Clear the DNS cache on your computer and/or router to remove any outdated or corrupted DNS records.
  • Try a different device or browser: This can help determine if the issue is specific to your device or browser.
  • Change DNS server address: Consider temporarily switching to an alternative DNS server like Google's Public DNS (8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4).
  • Disable IPv6: Some websites might not be fully compatible with IPv6 yet, so disabling it temporarily can help.
  • Temporarily disable antivirus/firewall/VPN: Security software can sometimes interfere with DNS resolution.
  • Restart router/modem: This can often resolve basic network connectivity issues.
  • Contact Cloudflare Support: If you're the site owner and cannot resolve the issue through the above steps, contact Cloudflare Support for assistance.
  • Contact the site owner: If you're a visitor, inform the website owner about the error and provide the Ray ID.
By understanding the nature of the error and systematically addressing potential causes, you can effectively troubleshoot and resolve Error 1001: DNS resolution error.

I followed a link to get into Google Search Console. I VERIFIED my website by going into Advanced DNS setting and adding a snippet for Google to verify my website. So the problem was google Verification was mandatory.
