DNS records for my site

Hi

I am trying to set up a new email service and I need to enter in the required DNS information to get it set up. Can you please let me know how to enter in the info into the necessary fields. When I enter the text in the fields that they indicate I get an error message. I have attached screen shots of what they are needing.

To find your Homestead DNS information, log in to your account, go to the "Domains" section, and click "Advanced DNS settings" under your domain to see your current DNS records. For email, you will need to add or update the MX (Mail Exchange) records in this section to point to your email service provider. The specific information you need, like server addresses for MX records, will be found in your email hosting control panel or provided by your email service, not directly in the Homestead website settings.
Steps to find your DNS information
  1. Log in to your Homestead account.
  2. Click on Domains in the left-side menu.
  3. Under the domain you need, click on Advanced DNS settings.
  4. This will display all your current DNS records, including A, CNAME, and MX records.
  5. Locate the correct DNS records:
    • For website hosting, you'll see records like A records (which point to an IP address) or CNAME records (which point to another domain).
    • For email, you need to look for the specific MX records. The details for these (e.g., server addresses and priorities) will be provided by your email hosting service, not Homestead.
Setting up your Homestead email service
  1. Get your MX record details: Log in to your email hosting provider's control panel and go to the DNS configuration section to find the required MX record information (e.g., mail.yourdomain.com) and priority values.
  2. Add the MX records in Homestead:
    • In your Homestead "Advanced DNS settings" page, click the "Edit" button.
    • Find the section for MX records and add a new record with the information from your email host. If you are starting a new service, you may need to add the records from scratch.
    • Make sure to include any priority numbers provided by your email host.
  3. Save the changes and wait for DNS propagation, which can take up to 48 hours.

The DNS is not accepting the information that is required by the email service. for example, for the CNAME they ask that I put "purelymail1._domainkey" into the Host box but I get an error when I do this. and since I will lose access to this email once I do this I want to make sure it is going in correctly.

How to find your specific DNS records
  1. Check your account dashboard: Your hosting provider's control panel is the best place to find your specific DNS records.
  2. Use a WHOIS lookup tool: You can use an online WHOIS lookup tool and enter your domain name to find your domain's nameservers, which can help you identify your hosting provider.
  3. Use an NSlookup tool: Online NSlookup tools can show you the DNS records for a domain by using a command like nslookup homestead.com, according to Stack Overflow
