site editing is really quite unacceptible

over the years, I've sort of gotten used to it and at this point I have so much invested that that is no other option, but by any standard site editing is really quite unacceptable.  I have just spent 3.5 hours to upload seven images.

always getting the "page unresponsive" message, and constantly getting this one:

"Error Message

Oops! Your request failed due to a network or server issue. Try again, and if it still doesn't work, call us at 1-800-710-1998 (Error Code 0x01)"

That one comes up even when I haven't attempted anything which makes me wonder if there is some sort of auto-save running in the background that I could disable?

Over time, the site gets worse and then with enough complaints it does improve for awhile.  with prices continually increasing, is there any hope that someday it will work better?

Are you still using Site Builder?  That in itself might be the problem. What is your site address?

@lynn1286 - yes,  I think so because switching builders looks extremely difficult.  it is splattgallery.

@lynn1286 - as I understand it, I would have to start all over again from scratch.  Isn't there a simple way to transfer everything I already have built?

No transferring pages to Website Builder as it is a totally different cloud program.  I have rebuilt many over these years and the "best" way I have found to do it is to copy all the text from each page into a word document (labelling it of course "home page" about page etc).  And you can do that from just the public view. Even the pictures will copy into your Word Doc. (not the best for photos but it can be done and used)  If you call homestead, they can provide you with a download of ALL your SiteBuilder files for your pictures and documents)  then you can create a new photo/doc folder to draw from.  The learning curve is challenging on Website Builder, but once you get the hang of it, it is actually superior to the old program.  It also builds an mobile friendly site at the same time and is automatically secure.  You can probably build it simultaneously in your account without too much trouble, if your account allows and you see "add a website" on your sign in page. Otherwise, you can "add" a site temporarily to your account for a couple of bucks a month and then cancel the old site when you are ready to launch the new one.  This all takes some time, but is worth it. If you decide to go through with making a new one and get stuck, or just have questions on where to find the tools, just call me (so I don't have to type too much!) I will walk you through any questions you have.  I am on the east coast.  410-493-4984

Hello,

If you're able to make the switch and rebuilt with WebsiteBuilder, that is definitely recommended.
As for your current site, one thing that might help is if you're able to go through your File Manager and clear up any content that you no longer need. I think part of the reason you're experiencing the latency you are is due to the amount of content in your File Manager. You currently have over 26,000 files saved. If you can clean that up a bit, it should help.

once you uploaded a photo onto a page, do you need to keep the photo file on the website?  does the image on the page point back to the file?  if you delete the file, does it delete the image off the page?

every image requires multiple attempts before it sticks.  most take six or seven tries.  today, it took three hours to upload (5) images

it worked great this morning.  I don't know what Homestead did (if anything), but almost no failed uploads and quick saves.
