New Domain to Existing Website

Hi, I created a website on Homestead called kisselkreations.homesteadcloud.com, then I purchased a domain KisselKreationsLLC.com. I want to rename the homesteadcloud.com one to the new domain.

When I look at “Manage Websites” the above homesteadcloud.com one now reads with the new domain name, and it’s published. However, on a browser if I go to KisselKreationsLLC.com I get an “Error 1001.” If I go to the homesteadcloud.com site, it works fine.

How do I fix this?

If you bought the domain directly inside your Homestead account, the domain might not be matched with the correct site yet.

Log into your Homestead Account.
Click Domains on the left menu.
Look for KisselKreationsLLC.com and click Change Site Association.
Make sure it is paired with your specific Sitebuilder project.
Go back to your Websites Manager, select the website, and click Publish again to push the changes live. [1]

Wait for Propagation

DNS updates are not instant. It can take anywhere from a few minutes up to 24–48 hours for the new path to spread across the global internet (this is called DNS propagation). If you just changed these settings, you may simply need to wait a little while.
