To park your Homestead Technologies website while continuing to pay for and keep ownership of your domain, you have two options depending on how you want the domain to behave. [1, 2]
Option 1: Unlink your website (The safest method)
This removes your active website from public view and displays a standard Homestead "Under Construction" page. Your website files remain saved in your account dashboard so you can safely republish them later. [1, 2, 3]
Log into your Homestead Account Manager.
Click Domains on the left-hand navigation menu.
Locate your domain name and click Change Site Association.
Use the drop-down menu to select Park this domain.
Option 2: Build a custom "Under Construction" page [1]
If you prefer a personalized look rather than a blank or default Homestead page, you can swap out your website's home page. [1]
Open your Websites Manager and launch your site editor.
Create a New Page and name it something clear, like "Coming Soon" or "Under Construction".
Add a short message letting your visitors know you will return.
Go to your page settings and set this new page as your site's Home Page / Index Page.
Publish the site to push the changes live. [1, 2, 3, 4, 5]
Important billing note
To keep your domain registered in your name, you must maintain your Homestead account subscription. If you downgrade your account or cancel your overall hosting package entirely, your domain registration could be canceled or lapse, allowing someone else to buy it. Always confirm that your domain auto-renewal remains active within your domain settings.
