HOW DO I REMOVE password protection from my Homestead Website?

To remove password protection from a Homestead website in Sitebuilder Plus, open the site editor, navigate to Page Settings > Advanced Settings, and clear the password field. If the entire site is locked, check Site > Site Properties > Password Protection to disable it, then Publish to apply changes.

To remove the password prompt on your Homestead Sitebuilder Plus site, remove saved credentials from your browser's password manager, as browser autofill often causes this issue. Specifically, go to your browser's password settings and delete any saved login information related to sitebuilder.homestead.com

Steps to Remove Password Protection:
  • Remove Browser Autocomplete: In Chrome or Firefox settings, search for "Passwords," find entries for sitebuilder.homestead.com, and delete them.
  • Check Page Settings: Open your site editor, navigate to the page with the issue, open Page Settings > Advanced Settings, and ensure the password field is empty.
  • Check Master Templates: If using a Master Template, go to Page Settings > Background, Links, Footer and select "set for this page only" to locate and remove the password in Advanced Settings.
  • Site Properties: Alternatively, check Site > Site Properties > Password Protection to ensure no overall site password is set.
  • Republish: After removing the password, save and Publish your site to make the change live.

If the issue persists, it may be a "ghost" entry where the browser keeps inserting a password, necessitating the removal of the password from the browser's saved list.
