AI Overview
To find and copy your Google verification TXT record, sign into your Google Admin Console or Google Search Console, select your domain, and find the google-site-verification string in the domain setup/verification tool. Copy this text, then create a new TXT record in your domain registrar's DNS settings, using @ for the host.

Steps to Find and Copy the TXT Record
  1. Get the Code:
    • Google Workspace/Admin Console: Go to Domains > Manage domains > Verify domain.
    • Google Search Console: Select your domain property > Settings > Ownership Verification > Domain name provider.
  2. Copy the Value: Locate the string that looks similar to: google-site-verification=.... Copy the entire line.
  3. Find Your DNS Provider: Log in to your domain registrar (e.g., GoDaddy, Namecheap, Bluehost, Cloudflare) and find the "DNS Management," "DNS Zone Editor," or "Advanced DNS" section.
Steps to Add the TXT Record
  1. Add New Record: Select TXT as the record type.
  2. Host/Name: Type @ or leave it blank (depending on the provider, @ represents your root domain).
  3. Value/TXT Content: Paste the code you copied from Google.
  4. TTL (Time to Live): Set this to default or 3600 seconds (1 hour).
  5. Save: Save the record and return to the Google Setup tool to verify.

Note: DNS changes can take up to 48 hours to propagate, but often work within minutes.

I have a similar issue. My DNS provider is Homestead. When I click on Advanced DNS Settings, it tells me I can't edit my advanced DNS settings because I have altered my default nameservers. It tells me to reset my nameservers to the default Homestead nameservers first, then I'll be able to edit. What are the default Homestead nameservers?

The default Homestead nameservers for pointing a domain to their website builder are NS1.MDNSSERVICE.COMNS2.MDNSSERVICE.COM, and NS3.MDNSSERVICE.COM. These should be updated in your domain registrar's account to connect an external domain to a Homestead-hosted website.

Key Details:
  • Primary Nameservers: NS1.MDNSSERVICE.COMNS2.MDNSSERVICE.COMNS3.MDNSSERVICE.COM.
  • Alternative/Older Servers: In some cases, eeney.homestead.comminey.homestead.com, and meeney.homestead.com have been referenced, though mdnsservice.com is standard for newer setups.
  • Action Required: Log into your domain registrar (e.g., GoDaddy, Namecheap) and replace existing nameservers with these three.
  • Propagation Time: Changes may take 1-3 business days to fully propagate.
