To make a phone number clickable on your Homestead website, you can use the Homestead WebsiteBuilder by selecting the text or button, choosing the "Attach Link" option, and then typing tel: followed by the phone number without any spaces in the URL or phone number field. This will create a link that automatically opens the phone's dialer to the specified number when clicked, particularly on mobile devices.
Steps to create a clickable phone number
Highlight the text or select the button: Either select the text of your phone number or click on the button you want to link.
Open the linking options: Click on the link icon or the "Attach Link" option. In Homestead's WebsiteBuilder, you may need to double-click the button to edit it and find the link options.
Enter the phone number with tel:: In the URL, email, or phone number field, type tel: followed immediately by the phone number. Do not include any spaces, dashes, or parentheses.
Example:tel:18005551212
Confirm the link: Click "OK," "Done," or "Save" to apply the link. Your phone number is now clickable and will initiate a call when tapped on a mobile device.
Tips for best practice
Use a button for clarity: While linking text works, using a dedicated button is often clearer for users.
Place your number strategically: For maximum visibility, place your phone number in the header, footer, or on a dedicated "Contact Us" page.
Customize the button text: If you use a button, change the text from the default "Button" to something like "Call Us" or "Call Now" for better user experience.
To make a phone number clickable for calls, you need to create a hyperlink using the tel: protocol. Simply type tel: followed immediately by the phone number (including the country code, with no spaces or dashes) into the link's destination field. This can be done in most text editors or website builders by selecting the phone number, finding the "Insert Link" or "Hyperlink" option, and entering the tel: command.

I've followed these instructions but every time I try to test if it will call from a cell phone it changes the tel to 835. I tried making a button clickable and adding the tel:+1xxxxxxxxxx to the phone field, and I've tried highlighting the phone number and putting that same info in the URL field. Both of them add 835 when clicking from cell phone. I've also tried it without the + sign and same thing.

I figured it out. I only had to type the phone number (with a 1 in front of it) without the tel: Even though it's not visible, the website builder automatically adds tel: in front of the phone number.
